E-mail: [email protected] There exists an industry need for an integrated system to monitorand control ISO compliant sample stations. This paper discussesthe development and application of a control system toolbox todeliver complete ISO compliant functionality.Traditionally automated sampling systems have often reliedon generic equipment control standards to operate individualsampling components. The design of the sampling equipment inthese systems may comply with ISO requirements but does thecomplete integrated system meet these same conditions? The development of a software library that integratesISO sampling standard requirements with customisedequipment control units via a supervisory control modulebridges this gap.The application of standardised libraries, based on over30 years of combined sampling, electrical and control engi-neering experience, has led to the seamless integration ofstandalone sampling devices into ISO compliant samplingsystems. All components have well-defined interfaces, common functional control and reporting mechanisms. Theresult is a fully integrated sample station that performs as acohesive quality system which harmonises with appropriateISO standards. The benefit of a standardised and integrated sample stationis the consistent production of reliable and accurate results.Trustworthy sample data gives QA analysts, technicians andplant management a high degree of confidence that they havea full understanding of their material’s properties and com-mercial worth.Confidence in sampling results is essential as the quality ofthe material is inexorably linked to a company’s reputation asa reliable supplier of quality products and, ultimately, to theirbottom line.Blast hole sampling in two areas of thesame deposit Marco AlfaroHead of Civil Mining Engineering, Catholic University of Valparaíso,Chile. E–mail: [email protected] The Rio Blanco ore deposit is a porphyry copper, located in thecentral zone of Chile, it is a planetary anomaly of copper andmolybdenum. It contains resources identified in 20,000 milliontonnes at 0.59% Cu and 0.016% Mo.The deposit is divided in two zones exploited through openpit mining by two different companies, Codelco (Andina) andAnglo American (Los Bronces). In Andina and Los Bronces theblast hole grade is essential for mine planning. Each companyhas its own method for blast hole sampling. This paper numerically compared and analyzes the blast holesampling results in the two areas of the deposit, using as ref-erence the grade of diamond drill holes composites for copper, molybdenum and arsenic. Iron ore ROM sampling Juvenal Barbosa, Louise C Cinquini and Luana L PachecoMariana Mine This study aims to evaluate bias and precision errors of the sam-pling process of ROM (Run-Of-Mine) from three pits of iron orelocated in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Alegria Mine Complex. Firstly, during formation of ROM piles, it was done a manual samplingby little scoop (flatted with 5x5cm) inside a truck with about 140tons. It was collected an increment for each twenty trucks duringa period of 6 hours. During same period, about 120 trucks dumpore to compose piles that feed two ore dressing installations. Then, three increments with about 2kg each one were collect asa sample by installation. The partial results from piles formationare used to measure adherence of piles ‘programming basedon the geological model in order to achieve the specificationsof process and product.Actually the results have shown a differ-ence about 0.5% for monthly mean iron ore content (absoluteerror regarding a 90% confidence interval). To estimate the biasdue to the finer material losing were collected two samples withabout 5 kg each increment in the piles dumped by the trucks fordoi: 10.1255/tosf.43

Diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging in thoracic outlet syndrome.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). METHODS. Medical records of 30 women and 10 men aged 18 to 68 (mean, 38) years who presented with unilateral (n=35) and bilateral (n=5) TOS and underwent 42 surgical decompressions of the right (n=23) and left (n=19) sides were reviewed. MRI findings were compared with intra-operativ...

OBJECTIVES In this study, we aimed to evaluate total oxidative stress and total antioxidant capacity in serum samples from patients with Alopesia Areata (AA) in our laboratory conditions. METHODS In this study, 46 subjects with AA (26 females, 20 males) and the control subjects of 36 (20 females, 16 males) age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers from our hospital staffs were enrolled (the mea...
متن کاملConjugation of vitamin E analog α-TOS to Pt(IV) complexes for dual-targeting anticancer therapy.
We report two platinum(IV) complexes conjugated with a vitamin E analog, α-tocopherol succinate (α-TOS). One of the conjugates displays the activity of both cisplatin and α-TOS in cancer cells, causing damage to DNA and mitochondria simultaneously. Accordingly, it serves as a promising dual-targeting anticancer agent.

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in perioperative oxidant-antioxidant balance in ONCABG. METHODS Twenty-three patients were included in this study. Serum total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), and oxidative stress index (OSI) values were assessed preoperatively, at 20 minutes after aortic clamping and at 30 minutes, 6 hours, and 48 hours after ...
